The Ikebana Exhibition created by the Ikebana artists of the Ikebana International Bucharest Association follows the theme of the Festival itself, Herbarium, where plants from various botanical families are given a new life through Ikebana arrangements. Lush plants, in an explosion of forms, textures, and colors, become the artistic medium through which Ikebana artists welcome the public into a refined and contemplative space inspired by Zen philosophy.
The Ikebana International Bucharest Association, the only one of its kind in Eastern Europe, was founded in March 2023 with the aim of affiliating with the global organization Ikebana International, headquartered in Tokyo, with chapters worldwide and presided over by Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado. Currently bringing together over 30 members, both Romanian and Japanese, the association promotes friendship between Romania and Japan, as well as with other countries such as Italy, France, and Belgium, through the art of Ikebana and related traditional Japanese arts. It is dedicated to encouraging, cultivating, and sustaining the study of Ikebana and associated arts, strengthening communication among teachers, experts, and enthusiasts, and supporting cultural activities related to Ikebana.
A highlight of the exhibition is the active participation of Alina Alexandru, who contributes both as an exhibiting artist and as a workshop facilitator, bringing her artistic vision and expertise to the Herbarium event.
